As part of Nonfiction Writing unit we wrote All About books to tell about ourselves.
We read Goldilocks and the Three Bears  and compared the story to The Snow Bears by Jan Brett
We did a fun phonemic awareness activity using the first letter in our name as a follow-up to the story.

We wanted to find out how Polar Bears, Walruses and Penguins stay warm in the winter so we did the Blubber Glove Experiment.  BRRRRR!
We found out that the layer of blubber acts as insulation and keeps them warm even when they are swimming in ice cold water!

During our Nonfiction unit we learned about labels!

This is an emergent reader that I wrote.  It is a silly phonemic awareness book and the kids loved it!  It can be purchased here.
